  1. When I was younger, I remember many reported gaybashing incidents at Oriental Gardens on the South Side. Common (a very bright man) talked about his own gaybashing as a younger man who had "Nuthin' To Do". I worked at Stroger Hospital with a gay man who was lured into Garfield Park on the premise of sexual favors, then murdered & robbed. One would like to think the North is better (especially in a multicultural, intellectual, cosmopolitan mecca like Chicago) but sometimes it ain't so certain.
