  17. That sounds great but the reality is that you remember 2 kinds of teachers: the effective ones and the abysmal ones. Half that shit gets shed like snakeskin; especially amid the blur that is high school. She won't even be a footnote in the minds of the handful of kids in that class. And while what she said is racist, inappropriate and wildly unprofessional, I dare say it's benign in the grand scheme of things. Yes, her microaggressions are on display. But is her brand of racism stopping a Black kid from accessing the tools to succeed in the 21st century? Does she decide who gets into college? Does she triage patients at the hospital? Is she setting interest rates on home loans? Nope. She's a dim, White woman who thought she was rhetorically judo-ing an offensive word.
