Pretty much. You have no future and you have no control of what happens to you career wise.

@there_can_only_be_one__unicorn This will literally be me in a couple of years - Moving out of an expensive city in North America and heading back to Southeast Asia. No future here and it's too damn expensive. There's no more room for growth and improvement. Just saving up as much as I can before doing it.

@1439315 You don't need an accounting degree. There's software to do that already. Pretty soon, Pharmacists will also be out of work when automation enters the pharmaceutical industry.

@nssupremacy_4281 "working hard" is so vague that it can literally mean anything at this point. And yes, economics has a lot to do with it.

Buddhism was never practiced by the greater population of China: Read "Ways that are dark: The Truth About China" by Ralph Townsend. He was a former US Consul who lived in 1930s China (when China was under the KMT). China back then wasn't different from China now. It's not unheard of for China to be ruled by corrupt, tyrannical leaders even back when they had emperors.

And Asian students are considered "intelligent" because of this. Regurgitating information is not a measure of intelligence; it's a measure of your ability to sit for hours and hours memorizing useless information. And test scores are a reflection of this useless skill. To add insult to injury, Asian parents celebrate this useless achievement through their kids grades which is not a reflection of how the real world operates.
