  2. A lot of them are though. It's always about showing off regardless of one's finance. I've been in a couple of Chinese people's houses. They live in a big house but there is no furniture in it. They drive fancy cars but always ask you to pick them up because they don't want to buy premium gas. A lot of it is really for show unless they are a government official who can cover their costs with their ill gotten wealth.
