Luxury fashion and Luxury cars are no longer luxury when every other person you see literally has them. And mathematics suggests that most of them can't afford it because most of these people aren't in the 1% of high income earners. So, you already know that most of it is fake.

Not all rich people care for clothing in the same way others do. And having well tailored clothing doesn't really say a whole lot about you as a person whether you have high status or not. My parents have a couple of rich friends, one is from a billionaire family. She doesn't wear the most well tailored clothes. Old moneyed people aren't a monolith. In fact a lot of them opt for a low key look because being kidnapped is something they don't want to happen to them - the more inconspicuous you look the better.
