I think when you make a video about the Philippines or any other country, you should focus on YOUR perspective and not call others "liars" and let your experience speak for itself. I get that you are running a consultation business and you're trying to establish yourself. But there are foreigners who legitimately like the Philippines for what it is. Most people aren't deceived by the fact that the Philippines is a third world country. And there are foreigners who may have had less than stellar experiences but to paint everyone with a broad brush and discredit said "good" experiences as lies only creates confusion and spreads negative generalities that don't apply in every situation. I've met some people who will never settle in Thailand or Indonesia because of the language barrier just as an example. But to each his own.

@markguieb When you call people who say "nice" things about the Philippines liars, he is generalizing. These people are giving their opinion too. It's not state sponsored opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion good or bad but don't speak for everyone, speak from your own perspective.

@markguieb i didn't say anything he said was false. I just said for him to speak from his perspective and not attack others who don't share his perspective. What I find crazy is you want me to admit to the negatives as absolute truths to the exclusion of everything else including the positives from those he branded as "liars". Is that what you call being objective? As a consultant you're supposed to have a balanced view and let people decide based on their values where they want to live.

@abyss128 I have been approached by foreigners asking me my perspective as a Filipino. I always preface what I have to say with the challenges because I believe in telling people the truth but I don't dwell on it. Also, if you can get passed the negative aspects of the country, it's easier to focus on the positive aspects. Most people I talk to who praise the country do so because they like the beaches, they find the people warm, they like the food etc. Again this is all their perspective. Nobody who loves the Philippines is singing praises about the traffic, the chaos, the beggars, garbage etc. That's already a given. That's why it's all a matter of perspective. If you want a first world experience in Asia with state of the art infrastructure, go to Japan. That's what I tell people.

@wanderingdoc5075 Differentiating yourself by focusing on the negatives is no different than bashing your co-workers to stand out. You loose credibility in the process and any sense of objectivity. If he came at me and sold me his services with that kind of bias, I would be out.

@chrisbunka Yes, it's all about personal values and whether or not the country you are trying to integrate to is compatible with those values.

@iyoalbarracin6752 Been to Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, and KL to name few places in Asia. I can understand why people would still choose the Philippines over any other place. It's not always what you "think" people are looking for. There's more to a place than just infastructure and economic opportunity otherwise people would only be flocking to certain countries that only have those things readily available. This doesn't take values and compatability into account.

Been to Malaysia. KL is fine enough as a city. But not a whole lot going on. The Malays are predominantly Muslim, which is also the largest group in the country so Islam influences how the country operates. Then you have the Indians and Chinese who have their own ethnic enclaves but the generations born in the country have by and large integrated into the larger society of Malaysia but they are still treated like second class citizens. The Malays get all the perks such as infrastructure projects for example. The Chinese and Indians get the left overs. Never been to Indonesia. Have an uncle who lives there and he said Jakarta is by and large like Manila, congested and chaotic.

@WheresWes That's why there's something called "vetting" - men should go on dates with these women, get to know their families and decide whether they want to be the "rich foreigner savior" to a family of 20. The fact that these men fall for these tactics only shows their lack of intelligence and experience in being able to discern desirable women from the undesirable ones. Because they themselves have never been desired in the same way in their home country. So they're easily played. It's not the women's fault that these men display this simp behavior.
