When I visited Korea in 2019, we were fortunate because the skies were clear and the air quality was good. The day we left, we saw a yellow haze over in the distance and our Korean friends told us that "that's just pollution coming from China". As we made our way to the airport, we couldn't stop coughing because the air quality had dropped drastically as we were leaving.

"Their own records, throwing light on their characteristics back to the remote obscurities of forty centuries ago, force the melancholy conclusion that they were no different then." - " Was that are dark: The Truth About China" by Ralph Townsend (Former US consul who lived in 1930s China)

@SatanSlayer12 "They achieved certain principles of democracy long before any Western country, yet nowhere has tyranny been traditionally so fierce and oppressive, nor is it today anywhere else so outrageously cruel. " - "Ways that are dark: The Truth About China" by Ralph Townsend Tyranny has always been innate in their culture. It wasn't uncommon for Emperors and government officials to abuse their power and put to death anyone who disagreed with them. The Chinese never fought for their rights in the same manner as Westerners did a few hundred years ago which shaped their society in recent times.

Taiwan and South Korea are fairly safe too
43
What are they going to think of next? How to use vomit as a marinade?
39
There are better places that will treat you much better. Southeast Asia is a much better alternative. In China, you aren't protected by local laws and being a foreigner won't help you.
34
Even when they aren't making fun of themselves, the world is still laughing at them.
31
The amount of work they have to do to create a false image is so pointless and exhausting.
24
I never would have thought that I would hear Angelina Jolie's quote alongside a Geography lesson. Only China can cook up this neurosis and make something that is NOT innately political into something stupid political. They are absolutely fucked in the head.
24
Unfortunately greed overrides even common sense
22
They've had thousands of years of civilization and they still can figure out what's true and what's not despite existing for that long? That's crazy.
21
@OldieBugger just when you think they couldn't go lower they once again push the envelope. Cow dung hotpot is ironically eaten to aid digestion. It doesn't occur to them to just eat more fiber, it's always about the more disgusting alternative.
19
@SH-it6ex Chinese are notrious for this kind of behavior. So a lot of them behave this way, it's a given.
16
Never been to China. I've been to Korea. On our last day, I asked what the yellow hue in the sky was. It was coming from the direction of China. I was told that it was pollution from China. I had to cover my nose and mouth since I started coughing profusely.
14
Everyone's an actor in China
14
Well, there IS such a thing as salted egg. You could have just had that, instead of some random pissy eggs.
13
Everyone knows Singapore is also all about accepting money with no distinctions. I mean how do you explain vast swaths of illegal money in your country from questionable sources? It's become especially important for the CCP even more than ever.
13
Well they have the communist suit that Stalin popularized which Mao eventually ripped off. You can wear that as you do the propaganda and stare dead eyed at the camera.
13
Lol, whatever excuse they get to impose themselves on the people, they will take it. They're completely shameless. Pretty soon they'll know the number of times you go into the bathroom as well - Wouldn't be surprised if they already know.
12
Those prostitute cards used to be so common in Vegas several years ago. You literally couldn't walk anywhere without that stuff on the floor in the strip.
12
@napoleonfeanor What you just said didn't make sense. Dystopias ARE a pessimistic vision of the future. How else can it be interpreted?
11
@charlessliger358 They also have building like these in Japan. Nothing impressive about China.
11
@rickytleung The only thing in China that has remained unchanged is the fact that they don't ever want to change. Yes, this definitely includes taking constructive criticism.
10
Have you heard of cow dung hotpot? It's a real thing
10
Wouldn't be surprised if part of their hatred for Japan has to do with the fact that Japan actually successfully conquered them when they themselves could never pull that off.
10
They're already reviewing this. What kind of "developing country" has a space program? It's complete and utter bs
10
If by "manners" you mean childish, rude, self-aggrandizing, and deceitful. They've got that down.
9
Everytime I watch Chinese propaganda, I get goosebumps. I get why people would lie but this is just pure delusion.
9
"The Chinese seldom lie with consistency, and never with ingenuity. Their production aims at quantity, not quality. Current American fiction ideas about the sinister cunning of the Chinese with their matchlessly clever deception is laughable after a slight amount of first-hand experience. They could rarely fool a bright ten-year-old after he had been in the country long enough to get the hang of their style." - "Ways that are dark: The Truth About China" by Ralph Townsend (Former US consul who lived in 1930s China)
8
He is though. Who are we kidding at this point?
8
Liars are usually out of touch. That's why they don't acknowledge the truth.
8
Most people who use WeChat are Chinese. The problem with TikTok is that his aimed at Americans. But I absolutely agree with what you say.
7
If China is going to be ridiculous to their citizens overseas then why don't they just bar them from leaving the country ala North Korea style. This is just ridiculous and a waste of time.
7
Hey, don't forget the cow dung hot pot and gutter oil. It goes very well with piss eggs.
7
Bixby and Siri sound so much better than this "Huawei" joke.
7
They ARE ridiculous. Look at how they deal with the rest of the world. Are you still surprised?
7
Sounds about right.
7
You shouldn't go there while the CPP are in power period.
7
The Chinese do apparently.
7
And yet people still keep buying their products. That's even more cause for concern than the company itself.
7
@tenacious_takakumi2680 dust doesn't go that high up in the atmosphere. Also, it was the Koreans we were with who made that assessment.
7
Pretty much. She probably had a stomach ache later that day
6
@schloops8473 Everyone should have followed India's lead when they banned over a hundred Chinese apps.

"Just as all creatures wage the battle of life with the best of weapons given to them by nature, the Chinese wage theirs with their foremost weapon - acting. They have no talent for warfare. They are not inventive. They cannot compete in industrial organization. They are at heart seemingly immune to the loyalties by which national unity might be achieved to them greater strength. Thus about all that is left to them protectively is their remarkable ability to detect the emotional susceptibilities of opponents, and to attack these with the display best calculated to achieve the desired results. The display may be designed to induce sympathy, to mollify anger, to inspire generosity, or to flatter conceit. But the Chinese are adept at deciding what method is best, and before this talent many a sturdy diplomat has given way against the accusations of his rational self in the manner that Samson melted in the arms of the cooing Delilah." - "Ways that are dark: The Truth About China" by Ralph Townsend (Former US Consul who lived in 1930s China)
5
Because a lot of people are still stupid.
5
It's actually the "heart" gesture in Korean that the Chinese also copied.
5
It's wishful thinking based on absolutely nothing. Superstitious garbage is what it is.
5
You'd be surprised. There's no shortage of people putting cheap products before their own lives
5
This isn't "dangerous", it's just sheer stupidity by the people for the people.
5
You're talking about people who was their vegetables in a polluted river. Seriously? It's all about incompetence.
