  1. I found this very interesting and enjoyable. I love the SIMPLIFY notion. I'm a software engineer and that's my personal feeling about how to make things succeed - we tend to feel ashamed to go for simplicity everywhere that we possibly can but it's what makes things reliable (and achievable before the project gets cancelled).

  2. The g is silent so although I'm not an expert I think you'll find it's like Dough-al (well with my attempt at thinking in an American accent). It means "natural".

  3. Even the lunar landing was done with a computer and would have been impossible without it IIRC to time thrusts and control the throttle accurately. As for humans in the loop - you can think of them as a manager checking in every week to try and make silly decisions that will have to be "interpreted" to stop them from doing dumb stuff.
