Looks like a Mazda to me. Don't much care who makes it. The size, looks are important and also the reliability. If they all match then I'd love to replace my ICE Mazda 6 with it.

Nice pictures of the car in Cape Town there on the N1 :-) Can't imagine too many people will own one there though.

Because this is VW, not BMW.

Good review but obviously even something good (like this car) can have some comments: I think you complained about some buttons and sliders but gave us no idea at all about the actual software which, as the name implies, has nothing to do with physical stuff.

I think it looks awesome. There's always this spectrum of opinion on cars.

Hatchback.....plus 5700 Euros to spend on solar panels to power it and possibly more money depending on the level of extras I choose.

@mauroftw Some people love them for their other qualities - each to their own. I agree that it's nice to think your car is well put together. I wish that Europe in general (including the UK) would get it's act together on software and realise how important it is. Cars should not be throw-away anymore - one should expect the software to have a continuous life of updates which doesn't involve buying new cars.

Yes, Hatchbacks are so much more useful.

@jesperrosgaard5788 Nothing wins over my current ICE car yet. It cost me less than the battery on an EV and is bigger. So for me they are all losers. But at least the ID.3 is a hatchback.

@jesperrosgaard5788 Performance is ..... a matter of status really and I don't care about it. I regularly need to fit big things in the back of my car so I need at least a hatchback. I've had a look at the model 3 and ... well ... it just doesn't make sense for me. All the amazing features it has don't make up for missing the utility I need - and costing 6 or more times the price of an old car that has that utility. The ID is also more expensive than I need but at least maybe in future I might be able to pick up a second hand one.

Because HUD is standard.

I think if one doesn't need space for an engine then it's bullshit to design that space in. It is beautiful but I contest that it has to look like an ICE to be so :-)

I hope European car makers don't give up on software. We can never develop if we outsource everything.

@davidesantarossa9592 I just think that it's hard enough to build charging networks in the US and Europe but it might be a while longer before SA builds one up - also some of these cars should really be built locally if the takeup is going to be good enough to justify a network. Don't let that chip on your shoulder get too big - it's tiresome to hear it from South Africans who are so rich compared to us Zimbos.
