  1. Which? Those dams in Switzerland work now. Liquid air storage is working now too - it's just about whether it will become commercially viable. There are a lot more schemes than these ones which are being tried out too - some will work. Batteries are already working in big storage plants - they're just expensive.

  2. We have lots of windmills - we just call them wind turbines now as they've become incredibly powerful. The problem is that they don't work at exactly the same speed all the time and sometimes we have to feather the blades to stop them producing electricity because we have too much and sometimes there's not enough. So if we could store energy on the good days and use it on the bad days that would be very useful.
