I suspect that this is just a video aimed at satisfying Americans so they will watch through the ads. Even in the US, SI units are used in space engineering so I would not be too surprised if that also applied to big aero engines. In the UK SI is already dominant except for what you see in your car's speedometer.

@lsfornells they have the largest aerospace industry in the world. It's good for the rest of us if they create small hurdles for themselves :)

@pete w difference is exactly what they want to avoid. e.g. you spent 100s of dollars on tools that fit imperial size bolts and screws and then suddenly they become useless?

When it doesn't move the plane will experience higher stresses which will shorten the life of the wing but the overall design will have to be strong enough to put up with those maximum loads for the duration of a flight....I expect.
