@Marco-wz3ff Without a competitor to Boeing, what could anyone do about their aircraft problems? They would be under no pressure.

Being a hatchback makes that space much more useful.

Not having a dairy industry is a bit pathetic. Zimbabwe used to have one so it's not really that much of a big deal.

And so does VW.

A factory at Zwickau is being converted. It has space for 3 lines and 1 is running now but so far the cars are being driven by VW staff until the release date. Round about now (spring) it's getting to 800 per day. With the 2nd line it will be 1500/day and I read some suggestion that that will be up sometime this year. I don't think that these are guaranteed to all be ID3s - the platform is being used by other VW brands so they might bolt a different top onto the standard skateboard. How would I be able to tell you the profit margin....? Well, I don't think you can plan to build a large production capacity without an acceptable margin - it would be a suicidal risk.

Those of us who are used to other cars are quite accustomed to living without them. Perhaps some more legroom would be nice or a shorter car to fit into our tight city spaces?

What if you could have a good enough new car and 3 international holidays?
1
Yes there is, one is a car that I can imagine affording and the other isn't. :-)

Possibly by being 30cm shorter, and 30cm thinner and maybe by giving the rear seat generous leg room.

There's a lot more sea than land.

Only people with tiny appendages need a car to do that.

Used as a noun it means one thing and used as a verb it means another.

@larslover6559 I think you're right. Current progress is hyped up. It's sometimes hard enough trusting the driving of a person that you can talk to and say "watch out."
1
@roychung1479 you might if that kind of design decision has been repeated a few times.
1
@laser_simon922 ... and the heads up display perhaps... and some real buttons?
1
@laser_simon922 you mean it talks a lot of moonshine about self driving which still isn't safe enough to leave alone i.e. it's still only assisted.
1
@laser_simon922 so... VW has equipment and software updates and promises too. I don't take videos as proof of safety and I don't trust people who talk about AI being nearly there because I don't see any signs of that as a programmer. I see some clever tricks that look good up to the point where they suddenly don't work properly.
