I'm all for unions, but sometimes, as is the case here, unions can act irrational and greedy.
Let's put things into perspective, shall we?
The average hourly pay for a UAWorker is $67 per hour, which equates to $139,360 annually - Please keep this in mind.
The following are the average annual salary for various professions in America, unless stated otherwise:
Nurse: $82,750
K-12 teacher: $47,700 - 69,700
Veterinarian: $104,500
3 Star Army General: $104,500
University professor: $68,000 - $89,000
New York Muni Court Judge: $122,438
California State University Custodian: $41,420
The UAWorkers have the audacity to ask for a 46% wage increase. Ok, let's do the math, shall we?
$139,360 + 46% = $203,465.60. That salary would be on par with the following professions: Airline Pilot, Pediatrician, Supreme Court Justice, CSU Vice President, 4 Star General, the majority of U.S. state governors, and the Vice President of the United States.
This is why I feel the UAWorkers are being extremely and ridiculously greedy. Especially, when they are in air conditioned environments with automated machines doing the vast majority of the work, not to mention they work in the midwest where the cost of living is considerably lower than in other regions of the U.S..
