In 1974, when I was six years old my grandmother gave me a dollar to walk two blocks to buy her a TV Guide and said, “keep the change and buy whatever you like.” I walked out of the 7/11 with a small brown paper bag filled with a candy bar, a comic book, a soda, probably some pieces of Double Bubble and Tootsie Rolls, and of course the TV Guide. It wasn’t a big deal. In response to the segment in question, I believe the officer’s time would have been better spent bringing the young boy back home to his mother than making a huge hoopla over nothing. Lord forbid if our kids get picked up by law enforcement for just walking to and from school. Just something to think about.
