I think the reason is more something like this: China is growing as an economic leader in renewables, Western economies can’t keep up, so the US provokes Russia (via NATO) by tightening relations with Ukraine, Russia invades Ukraine, the US blow up an underwater gas line for some reason, Europe sanctions Russia by putting a break on (cheap) gas imports, the US starts permitting fracking installations like lunatics to sell as (expensive) LNG to Europe. In short: China can’t win because the US can’t loose, so f*ck the environment. And ‘sorry Europe, you pay for our loss’.
