@ianchandley Down-to-earth, green, sentimental hipster, not inclined to calculate the return on investment of an electric kettle?

An induction plate can boil water in a pan lifted by sugar cubes, but that's about the max range: 2 cm above the coils.

Microphones are better than human ears at detecting high frequencies. Some malware uses those to communicate.

4 pan stovetop prices are currently: 90 for gas, 140 for electric, 160 for ceramic, and 185 for induction. I think my Scholtes induction top was 380 but that didn't even last 10 years while rarely used. A basic single pan electric plate is 32 euro. I recommend a single induction plate for 50 euro.

Could've gotten him skillets or adaptor plates to put under his old pans.

Maybe if you put your watch on the plate, but afaik an induction plate has a range of 2 cm. It didn't pull on my pans either.

You can get an induction adapter plate to put between your pan and the stove. 23.5cm for 21 euro.

A single induction hotplate is only 50 euro.

My Scholtes used to tick on low and buzz on high.

Or put skillets or adaptor plates under them, but then you might lose the responsivity.

@boygenius538_8 If you need to turn your home into a makeshift gas chamber or bomb, yes.

@amitasharma3176 Try a little less than max at first, and see how the oil handles it. Smoking oil and charred food are signs of putting too much power in your food.

You can buy little adaptor plates for those.
