Comments by "Cees Timmerman" (@CTimmerman) on "Why Elon is Wrong About Hydrogen Fuel" video.
"Very roughly, a new electrolysis plant today delivers energy efficiency of around 80%. That is, the energy value of the hydrogen produced is about 80% of the electricity used to split the water molecule. Steam reforming is around 65% efficient." - carboncommentary, 2017. Deduct from that the cost of compression and transportation, and the battery of the FCV, and a BEV is much more efficient.

Liquid oxygen and liquid fuel? Expensive, but the only available option to get into orbit.

@NWEDC Sounds deadly and impossible.

@TheMonkeystick Unfortunately, hydrogen stations are less common than electric ones, and explosive, and nuclear reactors take decades to approve and build. Everyone should be working from a net-positive home.

NH3 isn't efficient? Animals pee that all the time, polluting and killing the wild. The X-15 Rocket Plane used NH3 fuel. "I have worked with quite a few propellant systems and found NH3/LOX to be among the easier ones to work with. We did encounter a few challenges along the way, but none were related to the fuel itself." - R&D department chief Dr. Paul F. Winternitz

@kerryL True, at 11.62 MJ/L NH3 is about half as dense as LPG (23.50 MJ/L), but over twice as dense as hydrogen at 10 kpsi (4.46 MJ/L). It's also cheaper than both, according to its use in 1943 Belgium, and less polluting than the wood gas vehicles of the same time.
