I'd argue the cheap ones are better at heating since they're more likely to start a fire.

@jonmayer Good thing civilized countries require electronics to be tested for safety before being allowed to be sold there.

@nomchompsky3012 I hope type N plugs can fit those (and they are always the proper type), if the circuit they're on provides a dangerous amount of current like 32A in the UK.

Nerdalize is a grid computing company that uses servers to heat homes for free.

@Gkokkinakis2 Afrika is hot enough already. A small patch of desert could power all humans. Solar fridges exist and run on ammonium which can be obtained from pee and also powered the fastest plane ever because of how densely it packs the hydrogen atoms.

@cliffordnelson8454 Components like tilt switches come in a range of prices, and companies that skip quality assurance can provide them for less. Plastic can also turn brittle over time, and break more easily when tipped. Takes time and money to test that as well. The cheap and unsafe looking LED light i got from China worked longer than the locally bought one in the Netherlands, but despite having more adequate cooling, thanks to ventilation holes, lack of a lens, and fewer components, it broke while taking it out of the socket despite having thicker plastic.

@Galaxies Reminds me of the ol' sparky space heater i used as a kid.

Thermostatic radiator knobs also help.

@johnazhderian5734 Kreosan has a video on using nothing but a wire and an outlet. Certainly looked European and hot enough to start a fire!

Frank Szálasi Which are merging, then? Wireless energy and coms bring the web to the masses so they can learn how not to suck.

I prefer Python.

@neilwilliams2947 Provided the cheap ones lack additional fuel, a heat pump would be a lot more efficient.

@TheCrazyStudent Speak for yourself. i have a surplus space heater but no surplus matches.

@davagain Neutral is hot?
1
@davagain It'd take fewer letters to say AC pushes and pulls electrons between hot (pressured) and neutral (no pressure) with any metal shell connected to ground.

@levelup1279 Aren't those tubes insulated?

@psirvent8 I have district heating from a combined heat and power plant, which should be 80+% efficient. A solar ground to water heat pump could be more efficient at 29% * 400% = 116%.
1
100+% efficiency is easy if you use yours to move other energy, e.g. a heat pump.
