  1. If the USB is formatted with a modern filesystem like Exfat or Ext4, it shouldn't split for hours. And H.264/MPEG-4 AVC is fine, but H.265 (MPEG-H Part 2, HEVC) is already being used for digital broadcasts. As for audio, Opus beats AAC imo, being an open source standard indistinguishable in quality from FLAC.
