I have actually seen "drag shows", and they are not for kids. This is generally bad parenting, how do you enhance a child's growth by taking them to this - if you want to expose your kid to a live performance, take them to some play or musical. I have to wonder the real reason they insist on actually going to a public library to perform. Kids don't find this interesting.

As much as we pay for insurance, DeSantis needs to reign in the insurance companies. ALSO, call me a NAZI, but everybody after the age of say, 72 needs to take a mandatory test. Too many highly medicated and/or senile elderly people driving around.

The licensing is only to establish a minimal and basic knowledge of said profession. Should the nurse be terrible, then it would be up to the hospital to fire them.

Obviously there IS an "EASY WAY". The actual exam for certification must be a joke. Q: The best way to tell if somebody is dead is: A) They are talking to you with their eyes open. B) Patient is breathing hard while jogging. or C) Patient has no pulse and does not respond to questions.

As somebody pointed out, these nurses could have had better schooling and training in some other country, we don't know. You realize that the US ranks 38th worldwide? Consequently, the American schooling couldn't be that fabulous. So they actually may be a godsend to the nurses we have here. Rather than wasting the money on American "schooling", they are able to pass the exams, which to me is the most important thing. So I don't know. A downside would be that these nurses wouldn't be able to speak understandable English, but how much does a nurse speak to the patients anyway? I would much prefer a capable and dedicated nurse.

@danni1993 Good point, I hope that were the case. Medical standards have fallen so much in the past 20-30 years in this country. Entirely too many people going into medicine for the money, not because they want to be a nurse or doctor. A head nurse at Emory University told me that the nurses have become nothing but pencil pushers. Since our medical care ranks like 38th worldwide, I do hope these degree buyers have had some know how and training in some other country.

@danni1993 I have to say that American health care ranks 38th worldwide, yet it is by far the most expensive. I would have thought we would be top 3, but no, and it aggravates me. Yet another huge problem that needs to have the "swamp drained". WE are arguing about using the correct pronoun of a tenth of one percent of people and ignoring these glaring problems. I personally had 2 hospital stays that lasted over 2 months and have seen this up close and it really is pathetic. Seemed like less that 10% of the nurses were dedicated and responsible. The rest had terrible attitudes and seemed to find their jobs and the patients as a bother. Nobody is in the hospital for the fun of it.

Some nurses are the laziest people I have ever seen, has to have the most obese people of any profession, look for yourself. The gag is, they bought the degree THEN PASSED the board exam. This tells me that "nursing school" is absolute nonsense.

This should tell us all how rigorous "sitting for the state board exams" are. They by-pass ALL schooling and training and can pass the exams????

@Eli.H.Sanchez Yes, this is exactly the reason the hospitals should fire the ones that can't cut the mustard. State board exams only measure the very basic minimum. But if you can't think on your feet or put 2 and 2 together, then they need to find someone who can.

Give them the study material to work through, on their own time if they want to pass the test. They still need to do the remedial work, the universities are too expensive to pick up the slack of remedial education. BTW, what were they doing when they were offered work online? "Give them a degree because they didn't FEEL like studying?" NOPE.

Like I said elsewhere, if these "fake nurses" were trained and schooled in some other country, they could even be a Godsend. You do realize that the US ranks 38th worldwide, but is, by far, the most expensive. Maybe the American nurses are a "warm body" in the schools as well??? This is the only sense I can make of these foreign nurses being able to pass the state board licensing exams. Inept, lazy, fat, nurses (pencil pushers that sit around gossiping and eating and avoid the patients) only bring the good ones down and degrade standards. We need to get rid of the dead wood or "warm bodies". I have had 2 long hospital stays (a little over 2 months each), and have seen personally the difference is day and night. There really ARE a few wonderful nurses out there. Covid may have also played a role in this as well, but the trend was already in place before that.

Linnie, YOU need to improve your listening skills. He is going to declare English as official, not cut programs, food stamps, and whatever else she could think to lump in. Personally, I am fluent in both, so I don't care. I will tell you ALL that I NEVER spoke English other than a whisper to some clueless Anglo when I lived in Mexico. This is very disrespectful to the Hispanics, it IS their language and their country. This screaming various languages here in the States, in public is rude and the more it goes on, the more acceptable, the more flagrant the insults. NOBODY should flounce around in public flagrantly disrespecting everyone in their path, not the best way to command respect. That is an inside joke, and you ain't invited. Same with cell phones, just today, the woman ahead of me in line, made the cashier wait until she was finished talking to pay for her gas. Wait, I forgot that the objective is to divide us all, never mind. Now the pushback makes complete sense.
