so fun to watch this dude panic at the thought of having to put anything back into the economy that made them rich.

40% asset forfeiture upon renouncing citizenship. oops!

@ayoo1023 they are also using the pandemic to cut the pay of the employees they will keep. easy because our govt did not make job retention a requirement to receive massive bailouts, unlike all the european govts.

@Knels94 oooh an undergraduate degree. impressive.
1
@Knels94 maybe if the lower and middle classes had disposable income they would invest in equity. we were capable of valuing assets for the estate tax (remember that?), so that is an empty argument.
1
@Knels94 it is aggregate assets > $50MM that would be taxed, not each asset. its not the same boat. it's the additional 49 boats you feel entitled to, while 20% of the population can't afford to eat.
1
@Knels94 "crime of being successful" is very clevah. we could talk about that idea. but for now, at least, we've put to rest the objection that asset valuation is an insurmountable problem.

what happens when you assume?
1
@patryuji there are no federal property or vehicle taxes.

@patryuji you don't use [sic] when quoting a properly used and spelled word. you also made no claim. so you're now injecting words into your own words...wtf. rather than try to divine what your question could possibly have meant, I pointed out that the taxes you asked about are not taxed at the federal level, since the policy in question is proposed by a presidential hopeful. those taxes we currently "endure" to pay for annoyances like roads and schools are levied and collected by the individual states. does this clear up your confusion?perhaps you meant to ask whether there should be some sort of federal credit for property and road taxes paid at the state level? perhaps you were just trying to complain that you were overtaxed? do you own more than $50 MM in assets? perhaps instead of "read carefully" you meant "read my mind"?
