Earlier years was low pressure on cylindres not like now 8,5 -10,5 bar ( 128 -159 PSI) on petrol enigne and 17,5 -22,5 bar on diesel (1 bar =15,1 PSI) but that time was only 1,6 -3,6 bar ( 27 - 55 PSI ) that because was enigne cubics a many times more and they take more fuel but torque was many times more.
