@MolotDET You're stuck on the 1984 movie. Lynch changed the book explanation into easy-to-digest nonsense. The ships' drives fold space, the 'gators just foresee the safest course.

@MolotDET Strawman AND goalpost-shifting? Look who's trying to completely fill in his "debate failure" bingo card in a single post. 🤣

@osasunaitor Sort of. Earth life started with anoxic (anaerobic) forms. They were mostly slaughtered by the evolution of photosynthesis and the resulting oxygen holocaust. Here's the problem with Arrakis, Tattooine, Jakku, and every desert world in so-called "science fiction" films: They are ALL chock-full of life forms inhaling a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere and exhaling carbon dioxide but totally lacking in adequate numbers of life forms inhaling carbon dioxide and exhaling oxygen. It's only a matter of time before **YOU HAVE DIED OF SUFFOCATION ** and Game Over! That's why (other than Dune, which gets a pass because I said so) you only find inhabited desert worlds in garbage movies like Star Wars (I enjoy SW but it's NOT science fiction, it's just Swords & Sorcerers in Spaaaaaace). You do NOT find them in REAL science fiction like Niven's Known Space, Heinlein's Future History, or Piper's Terro-Human Future History. Hollywood is trash.
