  6. Isn't ANY weapon an "assault weapon" if you use it to assault someone? On the news over the past 4 decades, I've seen "assault lawn darts," "assault golf clubs," "assault kitchen utensils," and "assault trucks of peace." What these pinheads do to our language is almost more offensive than anything else they do. Almost.

  7. Let's calm our mammary glands until more facts come out. First, assuming the initial news reports are correct (this is a BOLD assumption, I admit): 1) The intruders WERE on the homeowner's property BUT had NOT entered his house (yet). That MIGHT make a significant difference in the application of state law. 2) At 01:04 the reporter clearly said that the homeowner had a STOLEN weapon. If true, this is what we could term a "big problem" and MIGHT be the primary reason why they jailed him. 3) If you shoot someone in self-defense, it's not unreasonable to expect that the cops might arrest you and stick you in the cooler while they sort things out. This is why lawyers exist. 4) Indulging in hysterics based on incomplete facts is what looney lefties do. Be better than that!
