By "slaves" do you mean the Irish stonemasons who worked for a mere pittance as they helped raise cities along the eastern seaboard, the Chinese laborers who helped connect those cities to the west coast, or the lower-class English who farmed rocks in the northeast? Human expansion and other affairs are extremely nuanced and history is quite complicated. You should probably learn some before you open your yap and parrot extreme nonsense.

  11.  @InXone  It's insane because it's not precisely correct. "Net metering" rules apply in most states. You aren't limited in how much you can produce but oversizing your array won't do much for you. Power companies don't have to mail you a check for your excess production but they DO have to let your meter "run backwards" (although not below zero). Here's how it works in Illinois: "Illinois net metering law requires investor-owned utilities (ComEd, Ameren, MidAmerican) to offer one-to-one net metering for renewable energy generation that is sized to offset the household’s energy usage." That does NOT mean they get to "keep" it because at night they have to give it back. Bear in mind that net metering rules as they are today were a tremendous step forward for consumers. If you don't like that you can always go entirely off-grid and pay two to three times as much as for a utility-interactive solar installation.

  15. @Aditya Chavarkar He's basically advocating a nationwide version of California's "Million Solar Roofs Initiative" which was launched in 2006 and achieved its goal in 2019 (13 years later). It's not entirely impractical but would certainly take more than a few decades to accomplish on a national scale. We DO have more than 130 million underutilized roofs. What's not practical is idiotic scams like "Solar Freakin' Roads" which managed to trick a bunch of idiots into donating to their Kickstarter, trick the Department of Energy into granting the scammers a bunch of taxpayer money, and even trick our shiny new "Boy Mayor" SecTrans into thinking the scam has even a trace of credibility. Spoiler alert: It does not.

This was pretty funny, but if you're going to call out the President on his bull, you should also call out the media on theirs. it  would be pretty easy and rich with comedic potential: you could start with their pro-BLM/anti-police bias, the continued promulgation of the long-debunked gender wage gap myth, and the lack of coverage (if not outright cover-up) of Europe's violent, rapey migrant crisis.  From there, you could take them to task for picking up insane Buzzfeed rants and passing them on with no critical analysis. Then explain that people who have different opinions are not Nazis and that calling obvious violent rioters "peaceful protesters" has played more than a small part in the loss of trust they've brought upon themselves. Since HBO doesn't have a news division you should be fine with this.

"Environmental justice" has been endlessly discussed at the National Brownfields Conference, GreenBuild, and other conferences since the turn of the century (especially when a project's proponents cannot make a compelling economic argument). Not the greatest spokesman for emission reduction, there! 2) It's interesting how you brought up AOC's press release but left out the fact that 3/4 of it had NOTHING to do with climate change. What does Universal Health Care and guaranteed income for those "unwilling to work" have to do with greenhouse gas reduction? Most of those talking points seem to be inspired by "The Communist Manifesto" instead of "An Inconvenient Truth." 3) Incremental change is the approach that will work best without causing widespread economic disruption. 4) While I believe that we in the USA can and should be making greater efforts to increase renewable generation, how do we get the most egregious polluters (China and India) to join the party? 5) AOC acts like this is the first time anyone's attempted to address these issues when, in actuality, smarter people than her have developed workable solutions over the last several decades. The "new" technology that she says we need to develop ALREADY EXISTS. She and her co-sponsors completely ignore the efforts of the USGBC and their LEED standards, the EPA's Brownfields program, The CNU and its charter, APTA's efforts to expand public transportation, local efforts such as NYC's "Greening Gotham," Oregon's LUTRAQ, and many other programs that have been underway since she was in elementary school. If she was serious about the climate change issue then, instead of trying to legislate socialism/communism, she'd be making real efforts to further extend and broaden the solar tax credit and incentivize the aforementioned programs with additional funding and/or tax credits. Instead, she is so deeply engaged in shameless self-promotion on late-night talk shows that she has neither the time nor desire to grasp the nuance of these issues. Due to her endless string of gaffes and failure to discern the concerns of the average citizen, she has become so widely disliked that she's doing far more harm to than good for the environmental cause that she pretends to espouse. I've been studying these issues since the 1990s and can say, with utter certainty, that she is absolutely clueless about REAL solutions. She's clearly up to something sinister but, if you want to believe that a mediocre waitress who snuck into Congress through the back door knows more about this topic than people who've devoted half their lives to addressing the problem, you go right ahead.
