That money does NOT go into the justice system. It goes to the service providers who have to charge ridiculous rates due to risking huge losses because criminals constantly scam them. Imagine that!

@mikespongili8254 Your second qualifier is extremely subjective and so vague that it's hard to imagine a valid argument for either side of the debate. I'll try a few anyway but then I'll make myself a sandwich and log out: Medicare? Public transit? Farm subsidies?

There sure are a lot of people in the comments pretending to care about the rights of felons who didn't give a flip about the rights of their victims! Don't want to be treated badly in prison? DON'T COMMIT CRIMES!

@rikwisselink-bijker Excellent method for getting lots of entry-level "name tag and hairnet" jobs eliminated (it's already happening thanks to market-ignorant politicians pushing for higher minimum wages. People are getting their hours cut and taking less home. Good plan!). Burger-flipping was never intended to be a career. It's a temporary gig. You can always pay $20 for a $3 cheeseburger if you really want to. I'll just make my own damn sandwich at home.
