  3. I was scrolling the comments to see if anyone mentioned "Footfall" before I posted a comment about it. The Orion ship Michael was awesome, even though the launch was a little hard on Bellingham, WA. The authors writing themselves into the story... not so awesome. Not nearly as vomit-inducing as when Clive Cussler does it but still a bit hard to take. There's nothing quite like "The Stan Lee Effect" when it comes to instantly destroying suspension of disbelief. Of course, the hardest thing to believe wasn't the aliens or the ship, it was the VW Rabbit that drove 2000 miles on one tank of gas decades before hybrids were available. Based on EPA estimates, it would have needed (at least) a 50 gallon tank to pull that off. Still, "Footfall" is QUITE entertaining and, arguably, one of the best and most believable alien invasion stories around.

Pocket calculators would never have existed without the space programs of the 50s and 60s spurring the development of microelectronics.There is NO "dark side of the moon" in the way you meant other than one of the best mellow rock albums of all time. You probably mean the FAR side. No manned missions were planned to land there because line of sight communications with Earth are not possible (there's an enormous rock in the way). One's ability to see stars from the far side would depend on the date and time one is actually there. WHICH constellation? "Educated" -- LOL! Another brain fart from someone who has accomplished SO VERY LITTLE in life that he cannot imagine anyone else doing so, even when he's using a direct spin-off from the Apollo program (modern microcomputers) to publicly display his deplorable lack of knowledge to the rest of the human race. Or you're just a 4-year old who's really bad at trolling.
