What makes this story even more funny/stupid is that there's at least one company that manufactures hybrid diesel-electric motor yachts that ALSO have solar panels on them to extend their battery-powered cruising range. When you need more power to fight a current, the diesel engines will charge the batteries while driving the props. When you don't need that much power, you switch to the electric drive and spend the money you just saved at a nice restaurant with your spouse. This is the technology they SHOULD have selected.
