The Seattle Monorail Project didn't merely "flame out." Seattle's citizens voted in favor of it FOUR TIMES over the years. City politicians hated the whole idea and did nothing to fulfill the desire of their citizens, ultimately killing the project. The SMP/ETC board and officers also did little to help their case by changing their plans several times, failing to keep the public engaged throughout the process, and mismanaging just about everything that could possibly be mismanaged. In the final analysis, the death blow, as usual, was administered by elected officials with their "screw you ignorant plebs" institutional attitude.
