  1. Columbia MD? Really? It is a terrible, awful place. It's unwalkable, unbikeable, and has insanely wide roads designed to facilitate the passage of numerous old-school Soviet tank divisions. Its "town center" is a massive box-o-stores (shopping mall) floating in an ocean of asphalt that you cannot safely walk or bike to. Sure, it has a lot of nice parks and pretty little lakes but you HAVE to drive to them. There's no rail transit station anywhere close to the place. If there's a Hell on Earth for urban planners, this place is it. It is the poster child for EVERYTHING wrong with postwar suburban development. The ONLY positive factor is the nearby Merriweather Post Pavilion, where I attended a number of concerts back in the late 70s. I had to drive there, as no other transportation options existed then (or now).
