The BG ordered her to bear the Duke's daughter as an integral component of their creepy breeding program. She violated their order and instead bore him the son he desired by HER choice. She CHOSE to break the rules again by training her son in the mystical BG ways. She was key to their escaping the Harkonnen forces. She became one of the most powerful Reverend Mothers ever known. She was far from being some inconsequential second-tier character. All Ferguson has done here is demonstrate why no one should ever take an actor's opinion seriously.
