He's an investor, not an inventor.

@fauxselection You're overlooking the $1,500,000,000 in federal tax credits to encourage people to buy Teslas: 200,000 units at $7,500 each. That's a LOT of cheddar to push a car that has NEVER performed as advertised and that doesn't even include state tax credits! You're living up to your name, Faux.

@chklingon698 He didn't turn down the EV tax credit. It expired once Tesla sold 200,000 units.

This might be a rerun. SpaceX is having issues and Starlink looks like it might fizzle. We'll see.

Like what? Please elaborate.

@uchibenkei Technically, he only PLEDGED to make such contributions from his Foundation (not personally). Call us when it actually happens, given his track record of over-promising and under-delivering. During the FYE June 2020, the Musk Foundation had access to at least $1B yet only distributed $23M of it, whereas Warren Buffet donated nearly $3B of his wealth in the same period and more than $4B during the subsequent FY. Let's not forget Musk's trolling of the UNWFP and the $6B "pledge" he walked back to ZERO. But, sure, he's a real hero. Keep fighting for the poor little billionaire who gained much of his personal fortune at the taxpayers' expense. He NEEDS you!

@Stephen5311 Please explain how tunnels "solve" traffic as opposed to merely relocating it. Boring Co. lost quite a few transit tunnel construction contracts and now it's become just another gimmick to sell more Teslas. Also, recent leaks indicate that SpaceX is having serious issues with Starship which might imperil his Starlink plans. As to Mars, I'll believe his proposal when it's not merely an artist's fanciful rendering. Actual scientists and engineers have done the math on his Mars sales pitch and it does not add up.

@Stephen5311 I've been studying transportation issues since the mid 1970s and writing about them since the mid 1990s. Musk has proposed NOTHING that helps solve a problem that actually exists. HE BUILDS CARS. Cars are not the solution to problems created by cars! Relocating a miniscule percentage of roads underground does nada, zip, zilch, nothing to address the fundamental problems with our urban fabric. You still end up with driveways full of cars, parking lots full of cars, streets full of cars, and parking garages full of cars. You end up losing chunks of surface streets to build portals and ramps to the tunnels, at a cost which would have been better applied to building a metro or streetcar line. The ONLY way those dumb tunnels make sense is if you put trains in them. All that Musk has done is to take every bad element of the endless series of failed PRT proposals from the 60s through the early 2000s and make it even worse so he can SELL CARS. Bear in mind that his tunnel system is still pure vaporware, just like the Hype-Loop. He has one tunnel that connects two ends of a parking lot and requires drivers to transport three passengers from one place they don't need to be to another place they don't need to go, and then back. It's the crappiest ride at a carnival for toddlers.

Their choice makes sense. Just like Time, he overpromises and underdelivers.

@Stephen5311 Fancy CGI doesn't count as "delivering."
