  1.  @vanavatareight5135  There is no federal lottery in the USA. They're all state or multi-state lotteries so they have NO authority to exempt winnings from federal taxation.

  2. There are no special tax rules for lottery winnings. They're just lumped in with your other income and taxed normally. For most people, that means they'll pay an effective tax rate of 40% or less on a big win.
