  2. They dramatically increase the initial cost of homes and the costs of re-roofing them. They can also make it harder to go solar. You'd have to be insane to buy such a house!

  3.  @dianeandrick5039  Nearly twice that cost in central Texas for a complex roof on a 1979 one-story "executive rental" house of similar square footage. Thankfully my nearby 1982 two-story residence of similar size has merely two "boring regular roofs" which cost only $7K to replace both AND add gutters with rainwater capture in 2019 -- and the solar installation took less than a day a few months later. Try THAT with a McMansion!
