@jimmayors2315 I don't, but I can read. My shingles are warrantied for 20 years and my solar panels are warrantied for 25. Maintenance is minimal. Leaves don't collect on them because only a complete idiot would have them installed in the shade beneath trees. It only snows here twice per century. Clouds do not create night, and panels can produce power on overcast days and even through some snow and ice. Please don't let your inexplicable hatred for renewable energy (did a solar panel break up your marriage?) cause you to ignore actual facts. Renewables are an invaluable component of well-balanced generation. Nukes plus renewables make for a reasonably stable base load, waste-to-energy plus natural gas plus petroleum plus high-quality coal make for excellent peaking. Only a child would think that any one generation mode can provide all the power our nation needs. My roof generates 75% of my home's power needs. On the other hand, my pickup truck -- which they can have when they pry it from my cold, dead hands -- uses gasoline for 100% of its power needs. I am satisfied with that energy balance because it makes sense for my situation.

@suciojay1604 Here's the problem. The deserts of the world are NOT where most of the people of the world live. You have to get the power TO those people and transmission losses would eat up all the power you produce in the desert before it even GETS to the people. All the conventional hydro that can be readily tapped has already been tapped (at least in the USA). Tidal is a maintenance nightmare. Rooftop solar makes sense because of what's beneath those rooftops -- people! You're definitely right about this: A mix of sources is important. Base loads and peak loads are different and generally require different types of sources.
