  1. I've driven that stretch of I-70 numerous times and I'm sure others have pointed this out (and I do think 110 years is absurd) BUT the guy didn't handle his rig correctly in the mountains. Instead of downshifting (I do that in my CAR in mountainous terrain), he rode his brakes until they burned out, despite all the usual warning signs to do exactly NOT THAT. He bypassed THREE runaway truck ramps, he declined many opportunities to sideswipe a guard rail and tip over his load, he declined several chances to run himself off the road, and he allowed his speed to build up to 85mph until he slammed into a bunch of cars that had stopped due to another accident. It wasn't intentional, it was incompetent. Give him 10 to 20 years of community service, sure, but not a life sentence.
