  1. "Meal, Ready to Eat" -- also known as "3 lies for the price of 1." Seriously, there's nothing wrong with stowing some canned food and bottled water. Forget the overpriced "survival packages" and just get off-the-shelf items that won't spoil so, if you don't need them for this storm, you can always use them later. Take this seriously, folks! I'm still rebuilding one of my houses that Harvey pimp-slapped over a year ago. The wind was so powerful that it sucked a washer, dryer, and water heater through a wall. It also gave me a deck that I did not order (hopefully, the neighbor who lost the deck got some of my "gently used" appliances in exchange). The wood from that deck now forms the elevated base for my replacement appliances and A/C compressor. The storm giveth and the storm taketh away.
