What are they doing about those 11,000 or so pipeline jobs they vaporized with a stroke of a pen? Asking for a pipeline welder friend.

@Dr.TJ1 If the jobs are theoretical then so is the "catastrophe." Are you trying to insinuate that transporting crude via road and rail is safer than via pipeline? How often has a pipeline derailed? How often has a pipeline collided with another pipeline? I eagerly await your authoritative citations as the price of fuel continues to rise. Apropos of nothing whatsoever, what powers YOUR car? You cannot possibly drive a Tesla or you would have mentioned that at least 3 times in your post.

@Dr.TJ1 A reasoned answer, but let's not forget that transportation IS part of the equation. Trucks are dirtier than trains. Trains are dirtier than ships. Ships are dirtier than pipelines. And neither my Honda nor your Toyota run on natural gas. Our need for refined fuels is not going to change overnight. It takes a couple of decades to replace a nation's entire fleet of vehicles. Killing that pipeline was not due to any environmental nor economic calculation. It was pure political theater that had consequences for workers and consumers.

@Dr.TJ1 I guess I was too busy installing my solar panels, rainwater collection system, low-energy appliances & lighting, retrofitting my stick-built house for passive cooling, and otherwise reducing my environmental footprint while researching and writing about energy and transportation issues to notice. Whoopsie!
