Not unlikely. How the hell are people still "on their phones" when virtually every car built since 2016 has built-in hands-free Bluetooth?

@brek2569 THAT is the "common sense?" I think that NOT holding your damned phone to your ear while driving is the actual common sense!

@DJJumpdancer "Maybe" saving a couple hundred bucks on a car purchase isn't worth someone's life. Maybe doing ANYTHING with your phone in your hand while driving several thousand pounds of metal and plastic through a world with other people in it is sociopathic behavior and should be grounds for revoking your driving privilege if you hurt or kill someone.

@martindixon54 Marc Maron had a bit about driving while texting in his act where he pointed out that, if you're driving drunk, at least SOMEONE is actually driving the car!

@jetchip Maybe not. It will, however, increase their insurance premiums, complicate their purchase of another car, make it impossible for them to rent a car, and harshen the penalty if they're caught driving during suspension/revocation. As a society, we've become far too tolerant of terrible behavior by irresponsible morons. It's long past time to put more of these losers on foot and on the bus. Nearly 40,000 people per year in the USA are killed on our roads (2020 data). Worldwide, the total is 1.35 MILLION preventable highway deaths. Is that NOT a problem?
