As a committed Centrist, I have to ask if all this angry rhetoric also applies to those who laid siege to the courthouse in Portland for more than 150 days, those who invaded the Senate and Supreme Court to protest the nomination of the most boring nominee in America's history, those who set fire to swaths of DC four years ago this very month, and those who destroyed government buildings and hundreds of small businesses in Minneapolis, Kenosha, Rochester, and elsewhere in 2020 alone? A recent Princeton study shows that there were 570 violent demonstrations (aka riots) in 220 locations across America last year. Claiming that ONE particular riot in DC "isn't normal" is charmingly disingenuous. The mainstream and social media pundits have downplayed this repeated violence so vehemently that we've become desensitized and even accustomed to it. THAT is the REAL tragedy, and nobody should dare pretend to be surprised at this stage of the geopolitical game. Should ALL violent thugs be held to the same standard, or is that different "because reasons?" If it is different, what might those reasons be? Can anyone articulate a rational response to my quite valid question? Anyone? The floor is yours.

Do not blithely dismiss the so-called "political" criticism of Baldwin. His politics are entirely relevant to this terrible, completely avoidable incident. He is so rabidly anti-gun that I would be shocked to learn that he'd ever taken an NRA safety course, been to a range, or otherwise bothered to learn one single fact about firearms. Look at his comments after the incident calling for gun control (what we really need is Baldwin control). From the first time I ever handled a firearm at the ripe old age of 7, my father (as well as numerous range safety officers later in life) stressed the fact that EVERY weapon you pick up is loaded with live ammo no matter what you are told. EVERY weapon, EVERY time, until you clear it and double-check it your damned self! They also drilled in the adage that you never point a weapon at anything you don't intend to make holes in. You also keep your damned booger finger off the bang switch until it's time to make holes in things. I daresay that if "Killer" Baldwin hadn't been such a vitriolic ideologue, he might have actually bothered to learn a few things about the topic. Instead, he CHOSE to remain willfully ignorant. All the negligence on the set is certainly a contributing factor but the bottom line is simple and not contested by anyone: HE AIMED A FIREARM AT A HUMAN BEING AND PULLED THE TRIGGER and now an innocent woman is DEAD. HE should be held accountable!

Objection: It wasn't a piece of the Griswolds' gutter that broke the window and stereo. It was an ice "spear" that had formed in the gutter. The gutter merely acted as a catapult, trebuchet, or sling (choose your favorite medieval weapon for this analogy). There is no way that the damage can reasonably be attributed to the Griswolds because THE EVIDENCE MELTED. Case dismissed!

Sonny Atalante I said "rational response." I can't even give you a "nice try" for that whatever-it-was. Yes, we Americans absolutely have the right to peacefully protest. That isn't at all what happened in Portland. Arson and murder aren't "peaceful" in anyone's vocabulary. Also, you do not know me. I'm a left-leaning Centrist vote-splitter who's voted in every election since 1980 and I've grown quite disaffected with the Dems' pandering to fringe lunatics. Replying to an impersonal, rational query from a stranger with vicious personal insults is certainly the VERY BEST way to sway someone's opinion.

I don't know about a "truth world" but I do remember a time when reporters would chase down all manner of allegations regarding elected officials' shenanigans instead of defaulting to a "there's nothing to see here" position. They also used to report on what was said, rather than what wasn't said. I cannot help but think reason is our key to unlocking the mess that the media and tech "elites" have made of our great nation as they sap the very sustenance from her veins to line their own pockets by any means possible. I'll keep trying that in spite of the apparent futility inherent therein. You go right ahead and mock, insult, and troll to your heart's content. I may become frustrated enough to join you.
