Yes he's a hero. But he should not have been feeding this dreg for 2 months - especially without known who he was and his background. Many of these drifters and homeless have criminal past, and judging by the guy's behavior, he's done this type of thing (assault/mugging/theft) before.

@SuperTruthful why when almost non existent means many less murders, rapes, burglaries, thefts, muggings, etc., and therefore less innocent people violated or killed. Your way would get more people killed than being vigilant and punishing and locking up serious offenders.

Restaurateur is a good-sized guy, so he knew he wouldn't get the short end of the stick in a fight. However, he should not be giving free food to people without knowing their name and background, as they can be violent criminals like this guy. This man has likely done this kind of crime (assault-mugging-theft) before, and perhaps even worse (seriously injured or even killed someone).

@lifegoeson1007 There IS video of the guy on the security cameras and that is what we are watching. The police don't always catch the criminals and get the stolen items back. Further, he is a big guy and significantly bigger than the culprit. Actually, he should have used his weight more to sit on the guy when he kept struggling so his girlfriend didn't have to help him subdue the thief.
