  1. I imagine the strictness and regimentalness also helps to rehabilitate the ones who will be released into society. The idleness and leniency in Western prisons seems to cause a lot of internal issues (violence, rape, gangs) which just feeds the cycle of criminal behavior

  3. indeed; I have a rabbit and budgies and don't cage them, just make the places they are allowed to go safe for them. Can't image keeping them in cages
