Rural communities are generally based around a factory or mining source and once that was gone their economic opportunities vanished We have the same problem in Canada, the towns are dead, everyone is forced to shop at Walmarts, there is no community or sense of hope so people turn to alcohol and drugs to cope and no politician cares because these are poor white people
