Civil unions don't have the same rights as marriage, from federal joint tax filings to the ability to see your loved one in the hospital and be trusted with power of attorney if they are incapacitated. You can have a marriage in your church but legal marriage has implications on property and life legal matters. Serious question; What is your problem with treating people equally under the law? What am I not understanding?
