@bluewater454 "minimum wage is not something you're supposed to live on".... Then why do some employers act like it is? When more and more people are being squeezed into the lower quartile raising the minimum wage becomes more and more important. I don't know if you've ever looked in the drive-thru window at a fast food joint, but it's not just kids in there... Those are people with families. Meanwhile CEOs are taking tens of millions of dollars in salaries, bonuses, and stock options. The fact that our economy doesn't respect the working class, is a prime set up for social unrest. That unrest lends itself for fascists to redirect the blame and take power for themselves, just like what happened 90 years ago today. But maybe you like the working class hurting to the point that they look for any hope they can even the most evil of ideologies.

Do realize it sets the standard for wages and as such skilled labor above minimum wage gets an increase as well. Increase is based on the inelasticity of supply of labor, but it should raise most boats in the lower quartile

@bluewater454 and yet even $15 an hour is a not "livable wage". Without Union bargaining power you don't get much of an increase in lower-skilled labor (above min. wage) without a rise in the minimum wage. Sure I do know that some fast food joints are starting off at $17 an hour.... But you know what that's also the inflation adjusted minimum wage from like 1970. You're closer to being homeless than being one of the CEOs or major shareholders of these corporations that you're supporting. It's honestly kind of sick that you'd support literally a 1000:1 pay gap that enriches the people that lobby out your government to enrich themselves some more.

@bluewater454 Just repeating that 2% of the population makes minimum wage still ignores the fact that minimum wage raises the lower quartile.... But apparently that's something you're still not factoring.

@bluewater454 Lol, well you're sure doing a lot of capitalist apologetics for not "supporting" anybody. Truly hilarious how then you say you don't support division and yet capitalists often use division in order to suppress wages and to stoke anti-minimum wage propaganda. You call it envy but when I see somebody who literally is working their ass off in terrible working conditions for low pay just so their boss can be up $100+ billionaire I'm not so much of a schmuck that I'd call that anything but exploitative. It's not about "I want a yacht too"... Its about I want families to have health care, you ass 🤦🏼 The fact that you think it's envious greed and not just a belief that people shouldn't work 12 hours a day for barely subsistence wages so their boss can be a billionaire just proves your have no concept of what's even being talked about right now. Smh. Keep on fooling yourself that you're not shilling capitalist apologetics.
