Norfolk Southern approved a $10 billion share buyback program and a 9% dividend increase just before they told their employees that they couldn't afford to give them any sick days and 10 months before they had a giant accident that poisoned a whole town because they wouldn't invest in maintenance and pursued understaffing to save money.

"The rent of land, therefore, considered as the price paid for the use of the land, is naturally a monopoly price. It is not at all proportioned to what the landlord may have laid out upon the improvement of the land, or to what he can afford to take; but to what the farmer can afford to give." — Adam Smith, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, Book I, Chapter XI "Of the Rent of Land"

This is good editing, between the multiple stories told step by step and all the pictures it really adds to the narrative. Merry Christmas, let's hope next year is better.

You mean concentration into super high qualities companies that keep growing rapidly? Sounds more like an opportunity than a risk. The United States has a strong tendency to have its upwards stock market volatility far surpass its downside volatility.

A GPU?? They had Blackwell and the 0.72 xeoflop DGX stack, massive power reductions, robotics chips and training, and Omniverse updates with VisionPro compatibility. This is a massive GTC for anyone that understands that data centers are the biggest part of their business.

VINWhiskey: Drink and drive... Just not in that order 😅🍻 E: chocolatey and toffee sound like some great tasting notes, I'd rather have a nice, sweet glass of spirit then a sugary desert.

I just want to thank whoever formats the description portion for actually writing a relevant description with hyperlinks to the full video... You have no idea how helpful that is for people who actually want more information. It's a small thing but I really appreciate it. Thank you for doing the work to help increase the access to information about economic democracy.

Great video as usual. Volatility is one type of risk but it doesn't encompass all risk and that should be noted when talking about risk adjusted returns which merely factors in beta. With longer term time horizons near term volatility becomes less of a factor and opportunity cost of capital increases in risk.

Usually the cash is just deposited to your portfolio account, BUT you can choose to opt for the Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP) that will automatically buy fractional shares of the companies you got dividends from. DRIPing is an easy way to compound dividends, otherwise you'll have to save enough to buy a full share in order to compound the dividend income.
