In 2022, i cannot believe the underbody is bare metals. All Toyota is now fully covered with felt materials or plastics which helps a lot in preventing corrosion because plastic will not corrode when getting hit by stones and salts.

@Paul good to know. so far no problem on other models. There is a possibility for busbar corrosion on the battery too. But the case is rare, not as massive as corrosion on trucks and body on frame SUV.

@Heatherder no, no at all. These are back from 2004 Prius and they are much better holding the underbody than Corolla at the same year. It is an effective solution compared to self lubricated oil coated German cars or GM. Plastic or felt cover does not hide corrosion, rubberised underbody coating will. Corrosion on the control arms are non existence now. But the bottom of struts and shocks are still prone to corrosion because there are no cover on them on the wheel well.

@Heatherder GM is not known for any reliability nor corrosion resistance. Probably some model like 3.8 v6 and old timer are solid but not their newer small turbo or cylinder deactivation engines. The rust is also a big issue in many Toyota and Honda, especially Truck and body on frame but not on unibody structures anymore. Since 2004 Prius, the underbody is fully covered with plastic or fiber glass. 2014 and up, other models are all covered too and rust issue anymore in Toyota is much lower since then. Better than other brands in the same class.
