  1. Bonny, there are better systems now but as long as too many Americans continue to renew membership in the cult called "nationalism" we can never grow beyond all the false labels. The US is not & never has been an egalitarian, tolerant, peace-loving, white Christian Democracy. The founding fathers were educated elitist slave owning capitalists who designed a representative republic promising "the pursuit of happiness." brilliant & revolutionary THEN! This was gained thru violence / war. Ben Franklin was a Unitarian & Thomas Jefferson an Agnostic. NOW we need to recognize that we need a major tune-up, honor the wisdom of the constitution but read with new eyes. The programs that are working the best for the people are socialism. With technology the people could actually have 1 person / 1 vote eliminating the power of the party system so we need dream a little, act a lot so perhaps the illusion of a Democracy could become a reality.
