Senator Sanders, I am a progressive & supporter of yours but I wish you would tweak your message a bit to make it more practical for today's jobs & more marketable to the general public, both democrats & republicans.
Unfortunately, this means eliminating illegal immigrants from any government college assistance - not because I personally believe this because I don't but because of the general atmosphere in Trump's hated-filled America.
Instead of saying "free college for everyone" please revise to say 2 years tuition free for U.S. CITIZENS ATTENDING community colleges or trade schools or state licensing programs (CNA, EMT, etc) or first 2 yrs towards BS at STATE colleges - with exceptions for 4 yrs paid in degree programs in engineering, math & sciences.
Kids with a C+ average studying other disciplines could apply for 3% student loans to complete last 2 yrs for BS degree at STATE colleges, tuition capped at $3,000 per semester.
We need to direct our gifted kids into curriculum to prepare for jobs where the US companies are currently employing foreigners w work visas because they say American kids are not qualified & hard to argue this point because they aren't. We are now ranked 37th in world in math! When I was young, we were #1. What happened? George Bush & core curriculum!
For those entering low paying public service fields such as teaching, social work, etc, loans would be forgiven after 3 years of satisfactory work for the state. Same forgiveness should apply to doctors' med school if they work for government in under-served areas.

Sarah, me, too but only $50 too much. I'm 74 not seriously handicapped like your mom but chronic pain /degenerative disks, fibromyalgia, etc so standing for over an hour is really painful. The financial stress exacerbates the pain. I have to go Food Bank Co-pays add up - I can't afford the supplement insurance!
I hope your mother gets the help she needs to cope. I am a teaching artist 1x a week for profoundly disabled, some are blind - surprisingly, they love to make art :) Life doesn't have to end for mom, but it needs to change. There are services available - Give your mom hope, buy her playdoh & clay. I make collage with my clients, different textures & a few have color memory. & music. Does she have pet? They are healers. Bless you for being a good daughter.
I"m lucky because the facility works with me re art, all 1/1. I don't push wheelchairs or position the clients. I can sit depending on project & client & I make my own schedule - it is a life-saver & joyful work.

Primalxbeast - if what you say is correct, then Walmart will go bankrupt because rich people do not buy their crap. What is needed is enforcement of sherman anti trust act, repeal of trade agreement like NAFTA, TPP, etc & skilled workforce, education to meet the changing job markets in fields like green energy, ecology, science, master craftsmen, plumbers, electricians, tailors, agriculture & horticulture. We need rebuild our local economy, bring back bartering.

Please mention affordable, clean, available public transportation. We need green energy trains & busses everywhere!
Ban cars downtown in big cities! Only bikes, electric cabs & scooters, & public trans. Build more park & ride stations outside city limits.
Think about benefits: exercise, save time, cheaper, less traffic, safer, less stress, meet neighbors, read books & text, drink coffee & I love elevated trains, see so much!
Do you realize how much healthier our cities & people would be?
I do, grew up this way. Sometimes less really is more.
I'm 74, grew up in Philly. My family never had a car util I was 8 & we moved to the burbs. Then we had 1 family car. It wasn't a big deal, busses were convenient, ran every 10 minutes& cheap - but dirty! so now need to convert to electric. We didn't need a gym, Americans were fit not fat!

So where was Trump? McConnell, Pence, Hillary, Joe Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, Beto, Warren, Pete, etc - where are these so -called leaders for ALL of us? These big talkers are all talk! Did they even send flowers or a card? nothing!
I am a teaching artist for profoundly disabled adults so believe me when I say that Bernie is the only real humanitarian running for president in 2020. Sen Bernie Sanders treated Ady with dignity, aknowledged his suffering but praised his spirit.

Alma OG & Mary Dahm - Agree! I was born at the right time! I was a cusp boomer, 1945 :) Sisters / agents of change! As early feminists, born to the good fight, each in our own way!
I graduated in 1967 from West Chester Uni, PA state tuition sr year was $400! My mother was a widow, 4 kids so I worked. Like all girls from lower middle class, first in family to get a degree, I was a teacher however I did change fields to a headhunter / financial services! I lasted 15 years, only 2 women in the field (until Bill Clinton,) sold advertising for 5 yrs- Go figure lol Now I am a Working & Teaching Artist p/t with VSA & on amazon & poor again :) (Google Sandy Weld, Artist)
My "story" is impossible for kids today - not because my story is special but because I had choices & the security of knowing that I would always have that teaching certification & 7 years of experience, bought & paid for, an asset not a liability & I loved it but I also needed adventure...
These kids will never have that confidence to take a risk to fail.
Mostly, they feel that they do not have the freedom to fight for freedom!
These kids are indentured servants of the state!
I have disagreement with Bernie's platform only because I do not think that all kids should go to "college" but I do think that all kids should have a choice for state-funded education that supports their dreams by attaining life skills & some way of being independent financially. What happened to Vo-tech? Accredited trade schools?
Blessings!
