Senator Sanders, I am a progressive & supporter of yours but I wish you would tweak your message a bit to make it more practical for today's jobs & more marketable to the general public, both democrats & republicans.
Unfortunately, this means eliminating illegal immigrants from any government college assistance - not because I personally believe this because I don't but because of the general atmosphere in Trump's hated-filled America.
Instead of saying "free college for everyone" please revise to say 2 years tuition free for U.S. CITIZENS ATTENDING community colleges or trade schools or state licensing programs (CNA, EMT, etc) or first 2 yrs towards BS at STATE colleges - with exceptions for 4 yrs paid in degree programs in engineering, math & sciences.
Kids with a C+ average studying other disciplines could apply for 3% student loans to complete last 2 yrs for BS degree at STATE colleges, tuition capped at $3,000 per semester.
We need to direct our gifted kids into curriculum to prepare for jobs where the US companies are currently employing foreigners w work visas because they say American kids are not qualified & hard to argue this point because they aren't. We are now ranked 37th in world in math! When I was young, we were #1. What happened? George Bush & core curriculum!
For those entering low paying public service fields such as teaching, social work, etc, loans would be forgiven after 3 years of satisfactory work for the state. Same forgiveness should apply to doctors' med school if they work for government in under-served areas.

Alma OG & Mary Dahm - Agree! I was born at the right time! I was a cusp boomer, 1945 :) Sisters / agents of change! As early feminists, born to the good fight, each in our own way!
I graduated in 1967 from West Chester Uni, PA state tuition sr year was $400! My mother was a widow, 4 kids so I worked. Like all girls from lower middle class, first in family to get a degree, I was a teacher however I did change fields to a headhunter / financial services! I lasted 15 years, only 2 women in the field (until Bill Clinton,) sold advertising for 5 yrs- Go figure lol Now I am a Working & Teaching Artist p/t with VSA & on amazon & poor again :) (Google Sandy Weld, Artist)
My "story" is impossible for kids today - not because my story is special but because I had choices & the security of knowing that I would always have that teaching certification & 7 years of experience, bought & paid for, an asset not a liability & I loved it but I also needed adventure...
These kids will never have that confidence to take a risk to fail.
Mostly, they feel that they do not have the freedom to fight for freedom!
These kids are indentured servants of the state!
I have disagreement with Bernie's platform only because I do not think that all kids should go to "college" but I do think that all kids should have a choice for state-funded education that supports their dreams by attaining life skills & some way of being independent financially. What happened to Vo-tech? Accredited trade schools?
Blessings!
